Once again, Tongariro crossing

I did the tongariro crossing track again during the last Easter break (March 21-24). It was my second time doing this track, diferent season though. I did it before in Winter 2006 (july) and this time was in Summer.

It's a 18.5 kilometre journey, we walk from one side to the other (it's not a round track). It took us around 6 hours and a half which is pretty good (quite strong, aren't we?).

Apart from tramping gears, you need a reasonable level of fitness, and agility. On that day, we were lucky about the weather. We brought the rain coat, but we didn't need it. It was hot and sunny, not much wind either. Awesome! The highest is around 1,900 metres, so the weather can be changed very quickly. It's necessary to bring warm clothes as well as rain coats, just in case!

It was fun, I was glad I did it again. The scenery was stunning in Summer, more colourful, you know... In Winter, there're pretty much blue and white.

Thanks to P'aor and Pa for yummy dinners. Thanks to Kerry for keeping us moving forwards, and for driving.

See you next trip nakaaa...
